Our love affair with The Railway Barn started way back in the Spring when we discovered the barn whilst we were looking for new Essex venues. The barn offers all of the facilities that you get with established wedding venues, against a beautiful vineyard backdrop and the rustic charm of a working barn for a very competitive price.
We have been lucky enough to work with the organiser and exclusive caterer at the barn, Gather & Feast by Linda Hamilton Catering several times since then on both photo shoots and real weddings, and we love it that bit more everytime!
Our first wedding there was Jess and Matt's who married in September and chose our 'Into the Woods' package. They gave us free reign to decorate and set up-they had 150 guests seated at trestle tables so it was one of our larger weddings but the barn easily accommodated this and still had plenty of space for the scrumptious buffet by Gather & Feast and a chill-out area, bar and dancefloor.
We started with hessian runners as a way to ensure continuity along the tables, then added quirky beer & wine (from New Hall Vineyard of course!) bottles with foliage, feathers & pampas rather than flowers as this suited the modern woodland vibe and ensured the couple made the most of their budget. We hung our favourite festoon lights across the ceiling to define the dining area and create a warm, cosy feel along with tonnes of tea lights and added in a personalised banner with the first line of the couple's song for their first dance 'When I look in her eyes, it's like watching the night sky'.
We hung foliage hoops along the ceiling and made a special 'F E A S T' wall hanging for Gather & Feasts' buffet tables before completing the relaxed woodland feel by creating a cosy chill out area with vintage sofas and a bar & dancefloor.
The day was captured perfectly by Lottie Photography, 'The Roost' bar by Gather bars, catering by Gather & Feast and decor & foliage by us!
